Off Ice Goalie Training: Dynamic strength exercises to reduce the risk of groin strain.

This is a follow up to the post last week about how hockey goalies can add diagonal patterns to their stretching routine to reduce the risk of groin strains.  This video takes it one step forward by showing goalies some new strengthening exercises that will make them stronger, but also reduce their risk of groin strain.

Remember to start and progress slowly.  These exercises look quite simple, but they are actually very demanding.
Cheers,
Maria

P.S. – now is the time to be working on your off-season training program.  The gains you make this summer will lead to your best season ever.  If you agree that hockey goalies have some special off ice training requirements that are not satisfied with a general training program, then check out the Ultimate Goalie Training System.

Groin strain is actually something that I encounter all too regularly. I’ll have to learn to develop a nice stretching regimen before games to prevent it from happening again. Nice video.

    Hi Brian,

I checked the database and you were registered on both the hockey training list and the Revolution Conditioning list – I tried to take you off the Revolution list – this list gets more fitness related info vs. off ice hockey training info so I figured that was the best choice. That should fix it. If you still get duplicates, then just go to the bottom of any email and you will see an “unsubscribe” link. You can just click on that and it will take you off the list. Hope this helps – thanks for letting me know.
    Cheers,
    Maria

I seem to be getting doubled up e-mails . I must be on two mailing lists. No big deal but you can delete one if its easy

    Thanks
