Will working out the day of a game make you slow?

This one came up on the Shutout Lounge (that’s the private FB page for goalies in my Shutout Academy), the question was, should you workout on the day of a game?

Here’s the quick answer…

So to summarize, if you are playing for fun and fitness, then for sure you can workout on the day of a game, but avoid doing your stamina workout on the same day.

If you play at a higher level where you are competing for ice time, then do not workout before a game (unless doing a little speed routine is part of your game day ritual), but you could workout after a game.
