About & Media

Welcome to www.hockeytrainingpro.com and The Hockey Training Blog!MM Image  Let me take a minute to introduce myself.  My name is Maria Mountain and I am a Fitness Coach and the owner of Revolution Conditioning in London, Ontario, Canada. I started earning my fitness coach ‘stripes’ in 1994 when I got my first job as a personal trainer in a gym.  In 1997 I left a great job working in a rehabilitation setting to pursue my Masters of Science degree in Kinesiology because I had a passion to learn more about how the human body works and in particular exercise physiology and training.   I was fortunate enough to have renowned Orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Peter Fowler as my direct supervisor and in addition to volumes of information about injury mechanisms and joint mechanics, the biggest thing I learned from Dr. Fowler was that even when others regard you as an “expert”, you should still be trying to learn everyday.

I had a passion to learn more about how the human body works and in particular exercise physiology and training.

Since completing my formal education I spend five years as the exercise specialist at the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic in London, Ontario.  This was a great time because I was able to help athletes move beyond their physiotherapy and return to the field of play fitter, stronger and faster than they were before the injury.

I work with Olympians, professional and amateur athletes, helping them achieve their goals effectively and efficiently while reducing the risk of injury

It was during my time at the Fowler Kennedy that I started my own part time fitness coaching business which has grown into a full time venture.  Currently, Revolution Conditioning occupies a studio space overlooking Victoria Park in London, Ontario.  It is a great spot!  I work with Olympians, professional and amateur athletes, helping them achieve their goals effectively and efficiently while reducing the risk of injury.  Click on the link on the left widget bar to learn more about Revolution Conditioning. I have a special interest in training hockey players and have been fortunate to work with some great ones including former Montreal Canadiens goaltender, Jeff Hackett,  NHL’er Steve Rucchin and a Stanley Cup champion in addition to athletes playing pro hockey in Europe and hundreds of amateurs from the OHL and competitive level.  My purpose is not to train only NHL players, my goal is to work with athletes who are willing to work hard and train smart in their pursuit of a goal.  If that goal happens to be winning the Stanley Cup, then so be it!
