Good question - there are anatomical limitations to flexibility for some of us, so it is hard to say 'this is how long it will take'. It depends on the cause of the restriction - is it bony (you will not be able to out stretch that one), is it muscular (stretching will help), is it capsular (need a manual therapist) or is it fascial (can do some self myofascial release with the foam roll/lacrosse ball and a good manual therapist will help for sure).

Check out this video for an article review I did of a research study which basically looked at stretching everyday for 4-weeks followed by stretching 2-3 times per week. This study looked at the hamstrings and used 2x30 second holds on each side - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRw8_9MkEfU

I hope that helps a bit Drew, I think the two keys are to include some form of self myofascial release AND if you are really serious about it find a qualified AND experienced A.R.T. therapist in your area who will work with you. Make sure they are fully qualified, I think there are a lot of therapists, trainers out there who take a weekend seminar and feel they can do A.R.T - the actual training is very thorough.
Cheers,
Maria

I am a baseball catcher, and my hip mobility is affected by by tight hips. I have good flexiblity elsewhere, but for some reason only my hips are tight. I have been watching many of your youtube videos and learned lots! How long does it normally take an athlete to regain full mobility in their hips if they stretch and strengthen each day?
